Turning Pages, Changing Lives: Kilkenny school sparks a love of reading with new arrivals

Graignamanagh's Scoil Mhuire gan Smál is celebrating an exciting new chapter as it becomes a proud recipient of a national book-gifting initiative that will bring hundreds of new books and resources into the hands of its students this year.

The programme, Every Child A Reader, is designed and delivered by Children’s Books Ireland, a leading national charity and arts organisation.

This year-long initiative supports selected schools in fostering a deep and lasting love of reading - not only among students, but across the entire school community.

The school marked this milestone with a library launch event, unveiling its brand-new library collection.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as children gathered to listen to stories read aloud by parents and staff, creating a shared and joyful reading experience.
