The new St Canice's Credit Union Premier Division season begins in Kilkenny on Saturday evening as Fort Rangers and Evergreen B get the ball rolling.
This season will be campaign with a difference as for the first time 10 teams will fight it out in Kilkenny's top tier each weekend after a summer of league re-structuring by Kilkenny & District League Secretary (KDL) Michael Coughlan.
In terms of the team to beat, well it couldn't be any more obvious, Evergreen. The Kells Road outfit celebrated a 13th domestic title success in 14 seasons last May with just Freebooters (2009) and Thomastown United (2015) interrupting over a decade and a half of success for the league champions.

Meanwhile off the pitch, fears of calendar or summer soccer being enforced in Kilkenny have been put to bed for now at least with the FAI introducing an exemption process by application, meaning leagues who wish to continue with the current calendar season can now do so with huge support in Kilkenny to remain with the status quo.
