Kilkenny Soccer: Evergreen 'heartbroken' as key player departs for Australia

There are 'mixed emotions' in the Evergreen club this week following confirmation of the 'heartbreaking' news that Lee Costello has taken the decision to leave the club 'for now' to travel to Australia.

The local club, based on the Kells Road, won the Junior St Canice's Premier Division title for an eight successive time in the 2024/25 campaign and currently sit top of this season's standings.

"While delighted for him on a personal level, as he embarks on this adventure, we are equally heartbroken to be losing not only one of the finest defenders around but a first rate person as well," a club spokesperson said.

"We have no doubt he will be a huge success and the door will always be open for you here Lee," they added.
