The top three continued their winning form in the St Canice’s Credit Union Premier Division last weekend, as Freebooters, Fort Rangers and Evergreen scoring a combined 13 goals.
Freebooters A 4, Bridge United 1 - Freebooters’ (third) stuttering start to the season is becoming more and more of a distant memory with their three goal win over Bridge United their third on the trout, a feat they hadn’t achieved until Friday night.
On the other hand, Bridge United’s (fourth) fortunes have taken a turn for the worst. Worryingly, for the third game in a row, they’ve ended a matchday with no points and conceded four goals in the process.
Last weekend, the Fair Green faithful meant business and were one to the good after just five minutes through Bill Trehy.
Bridge levelled the contest on the half hour mark when Eoin Delaney had a moment to forget when he put the ball in his own net.
But that setback didn’t knock the hosts off course. Two further goals followed from Hamza El Harrak and Charlie Butler in the 42nd and 46th minutes respectively. The result was put beyond doubt with seven minutes to play as Craig Hayes notched the clinching goal.

Lions 2, Evergreen A 5 - Title holders Evergreen (first) quietened any Lions roar on Saturday night in Durrow with a professional performance away from home.
After an impressive opening 25 minutes from Lions (fifth) where they held the advantage courtesy of Eoin Sheppard.
However, upon the arrival of David Grincell’s first goal on the 27th minute the pendulum swung. Just three minutes later Mikey Clifford put the away side ahead while Grincell bagged a second just before the interval.
However, much like the first half, Lions proved to be a tricky outfit to breakdown with all three second half Evergreen goals along with a Lions consolation remarkably coming in stoppage time (Sam Hickey & Diarmuid Behan - Evergreen and Conor Martin - Lions).
Fort Rangers 4, Deen Celtic 0 - After conceding eight to Freebooters two weeks ago, Deen Celtic (10th) were yet again put to the sword by a sharp Fort Rangers (second) side on Sunday.
Most of the damage was done in the first half with Paddy Cahill (10 min) and two from Emmet and Eddie Nugent (18th and 37th minutes respectively) leaving little hope of a comeback.
Those slim hopes were quelled just off the 70th minute when Emmet Nugent turned provider for Paddy Cahill’s second to clinch the three points and keep the pressure on Evergreen.
