The regional road from Mullinavat to New Ross (R704) as far as the Three Friars has remained closed since March 27 due to emergency repairs being carried out on a bridge beyond Ballynooney East.

A group from Mullinavat took advantage of the closure last Saturday to undertake a clean-up along the road.

Among the items of rubbish collected were a microwave, two windows, five tyres, a fishing reel, a barbecue, road signs, a wheel rim and a selection of bottles, coffee cups and food containers and over 12 bags of rubbish.

Thanks went to Seán Maher, Ellen Waters, Dunphy family and Peter Purcell for their work on tackling the rubbish while the road was closed.
