Councillors based in South Kilkenny recently passed a motion that calls on government to prtioritise the development of Waterford Airport.
The motion passed at the most recent meeting of the elected members of Piltown Municipal District proposed the following: “That the members write to the Minister for Transport in support of Waterford Airport in its endeavours to secure funding from the Department to further develop the airport given its strategic importance to the economic development of the South-East region and in particular to enable business and tourism growth and development in County Kilkenny.”
Chair of Piltown MD, Cllr Ger Frisby, stated that it is ‘important to get this matter to government level’ as it would ‘facilitate the whole southern region’ as well as stimulate business and overall growth.
