Gardaí and emergency services attend N25 road traffic collision in Glenmore, South Kilkenny, as motorists face traffic delays and disruption on busy Waterford to New Ross route

Motorists are being warned to expect delays on the N25 at Glenmore in South Kilkenny as emergency services deal with a road traffic collision.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in County Kilkenny.

The collision occurred this afternoon on the N25 at Glenmore in South Kilkenny, with emergency personnel responding to the incident along the busy Waterford to New Ross route.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that gardaí are attending the scene but said no further information was available at this time.

Kilkenny Live understands that the incident is believed to involve non-life-threatening injuries, although the extent of any injuries has not yet been officially confirmed.

Motorists travelling through the area are being advised to expect traffic disruption as emergency services continue to deal with the incident.

Delays can be expected along the N25, with road users urged to exercise caution, reduce their speed and allow additional time for their journeys.

The circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been established, and further details are awaited.

The incident comes amid ongoing concerns about road safety along the N25 in South Kilkenny, where local communities and elected representatives have repeatedly called for improvements.

Earlier this week, Kilkenny Live reported that concerns had been raised over delays to a proposed €300,000 programme of road safety improvements along the N25 between Waterford and Glenmore.

At a recent meeting of Piltown Municipal District, Cllr Fidelis Doherty called for the long-awaited works to be expedited, with the proposed improvements still awaiting approval from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

The planned scheme includes safety and visibility improvements at a number of junctions along the busy national route.

The calls for action follow years of campaigning by local residents and road safety advocates, with the stretch of road having claimed 12 lives over a 20-year period.

Around 600 people attended a public meeting in Slieverue in 2025 to demand additional safety measures along the N25.

A draft options and feasibility report for the proposed improvements has been submitted to TII for consideration, with a programme of works expected to follow the review process.

Further updates on this afternoon's collision will be provided as more information becomes available.
