A Local Link service will offer more bus connectivity for Kilkenny passengers
Locals in South Kilkenny have been feeling the benefits of a new transport link between Inistioge, Thomastown, Bennettsbridge and Kilkenny.
The 882 bus service has returned, offering a much better timetable than before. Operated by Local Link Carlow, Kilkenny and Wicklow, the service now provides four return journeys each day, double the previous frequency, and, for the first time, operates seven days a week.
This improvement has been the focus of local campaigning since early 2025 and represents an important step towards making travel between the areas more convenient and accessible.
As part of these wider improvements, Bus Éireann Route 374, which currently operates between New Ross and Kilkenny on a limited Thursday basis, will be withdrawn.
Meanwhile, the TFI Route 881 will provide enhanced connectivity between Graignamanagh, Borris, Goresbridge, Gowran and Kilkenny.
Building on the existing service level, the number of daily return trips from Monday to Saturday will increase from two to four. Sunday services will also be introduced, ensuring consistent access to transport throughout the entire week.
