Kilkenny boxing legend Ollie O'Neill has passed away

Ollie O'Neill Receives Lifetime Achievement Award From IABA President Gerry O Mahoney

Kilkenny sport is united in grief after the passing of Ollie O'Neill.

Mr O'Neill was a founding member of the Paulstown Boxing Club and coached many fighters of national and international acclaim from their base at the Community Centre. His eldest son Darren captained the Irish Boxing Team at the London Olympics in 2012.

In recognition for his work with the sport Mr O'Neill was honoured with a lifetime achievement award by boxing's governing body, the IABA, in 2022. The honour also marked the 50th anniversary of Paulstown BC.

Funeral arrangements:

Reposing at Hehir's Funeral Home, Kilkenny (R95 FH90) from 2pm on Saturday concluding with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 6pm. Ollie's Funeral cortege will depart from Paulstown Boxing Club at 1.30pm on Sunday (walking) to the Church of the Assumption, Paulstown for 2pm Mass. Interment afterwards in the New Cemetery, Paulstown. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to the Motor Neuron Disease Association https://www.Imnda.ie
