A trip home for Christmas became a worthwhile journey as Grace Richardson ran to a podium finish in a festive four mile race.
The Kilkenny City Harriers athlete, who is studying at NYU in New York, was the third woman home in the Clonmel AC MSD Four Mile race on St Stephen’s Day.
Richardson held off the challenge of former Olympian Lizzie Lee to cross the finish line in a time of 21:28. Richardson also took the family bragging rights as her sister Maebh was fifth woman in a time of 21:40.
Waterford’s Emily Sisson was the first woman home in 20:29, a new course record. The men’s race was won by Kane Collins of Donore Harriers, who crossed the line in a time of 19:56.
A total of 581 people completed the event, a firm festive favourite with runners from across the country.
