With the Cheltenham Festival now in the rear view mirror and with the big races still to come in Aintree, Fairyhouse and Punchestown, it was a quieter week than nornal on the horse racing front.
There was still plenty of Kilkenny success however with a mix of disciplines on show over jumps and on the flat as the spring season begins to enter its final few weeks.
Willie Mullins trained Jalila Moriviere to win the opening two-mile mares maiden hurdle at Limerick on Sunday.
Ridden by Mark Walsh, the 4/9 favourite carried the JP McManus colours to a three-length win.
Mullins landed a second success when Dr Eggman took the two-mile, three-furlong maiden hurdle under Paul Townend.
Sent off at odds of 3/1, the Susannah Ricci-owned gelding stayed on strongly to win by one and a half lengths.
The champion trainer went on to record a treble as Fun Fun Fun prevailed under Townend in the Grade 3 three-mile chase.
Sent off the 7/4 favourite, the Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned mare won by 13 lengths.
Joseph O’Brien and John Gleeson teamed up to win the concluding two-mile bumper with Light Up The Dark.
The JP McManus-owned 6/5 favourite scored by two and a quarter lengths.
Shane Foley rode Noble Nation to win the opening five-furlong handicap at Naas on Sunday.
Owned and trained by Ger O’Leary, the 3/1 favourite scored easily by five and a half lengths.
Jim Bolger enjoyed a rare win over hurdles when sending out Eastern Legend to take the opening two-mile maiden hurdle at Navan on Saturday.
Ridden by Keith Donoghue, the 1/2 favourite justified those odds by four and a half lengths in the colours of the trainer’s wife Jackie.
It was a first win under National Hunt rules for Bolger since Annie Power took the second of her bumpers at Wexford in August 2012. It was his fifth jumps winners since 2000.
Joseph O’Brien trained Carried With Love to win the opening two-mile maiden hurdle at Cork on Thursday.
Ridden by Mark Walsh, the 7/2 chance went clear on the run-in to score by six and a half lengths for owner JP McManus.
Shark Hanlon and Danny Mullins teamed up to win the three-mile handicap hurdle with 9/1 chance Hitak.
Always prominent, the Susan Cosgrove-owned gelding stayed on strongly to by four and three-quarter lengths.
Patrick Foley trained Cullig to win the three-mile qualified riders handicap hurdle.
Ridden by local amateur Alan O’Sullivan, the 12/1 chance went clear after two out to score easily by 20 lengths in the colours of Patricia Coghlan.
