Former Kilkenny underage manager takes the reins with Kildare Hurling champions

Mark Dowling

Just months after leaving his post as Kilkenny Under-20 hurling boss Mark Dowling has landed another high profile position as he makes the short trip to Kildare in becoming the new manager of Naas.

Dowling led the county under-20 side to Leinster success and an All-Ireland Final appearance last summer so brings a great wealth of experience to the role as he makes the switch to Kildare.

The new appointment continues the recent connection between the two counties as he takes over from Kilkenny native Tom Mullally who departed the post after the Leinster Semi-Final loss to St.Martin's at the back end of last year.

The Naas club have won the last seven Kildare Senior hurling titles on the trot and it looks the perfect place for Dowling to return to the club game.

The Dicksboro man previously led his own club to Kilkenny Senior Championship success back in 2017 and he also had a stint in charge of Thurles Sarsfields.

Dowling will be joined in the new role by Cian Treacy who will serve as Head Coach having worked with Dowling at both Thurles Sarafields and the Kilkenny Under 20's in the past.
