With a final tally of 1-2 from play, the impact of the corer forward was probably the winning of the game and despite having limitless ball, the Tullaroan man tormented the Waterford defence anytime he was in possession of the sliotar.

Highlight
Kilkenny manager Derek Lyng will have been delighted with how his side finished the game a sthey scored the final three points to secure the narrow success. As they trailed going into stoppage time, a Waterford win on the road looked the most likely outcome but the way the Cats kept battling away was definitley a positive sign.

Lowlight
While Cian Kenny won the match with his late free, himself and Eoin Cody still had a rather mixed afternoon on the placed balls and with TJ Reid’s return still a few weeks away it’s a part of the game the team needs to refine with big clashes to come in the next few weeks.

Talking Point
Kilkenny’s newcomers continue to show well with Rory Garrett and Liam Moore standing out again while David Blanchfield also starred in his first start of the year.

Turning Point
