Kilkenny soccer stars find the net in a busy night in the League Of Ireland

Colm Whelan maintained his bright start to the season with a goal in the Dublin Derby on Friday.

It was a night to rememeber for Kilkenny players in the League Of Ireland with three footballers from the county getting on the scoresheet as Colm Whelan (Bohemians), Sean Maguire (Cork City) and Jimmy Keohane (Galway United) all found the target.

The top accolade goes to Thomastown's Colm Whelan who picked up the man of the match award after he scored and assisted goals in Bohemians thrilling 3-2 Dublin derby success over Shamrocks Rovers.

The Phibsborough based outfit are currently top of the table after winning three of their first four games in a bright start to the premier division campaign.

There was further Kilkenny joy in the top tier with former Evergreen player Jimmy Keohane netting the only goal as Galway United claimed a 1-0 victory over Dundalk.

The win for the Connacht side saw the Eamonn Deacy Park side pick up their first win of the season in what has been an action packed beginning to the League of Ireland.

Away from the limelight of the Premier Division fare, Cork City claimed their third win on the trot in the First Division with Irish international Sean Maguire on target in the Leesiders 1-0 win over Bray Wanderers at Turners Cross.
