Plans lodged for new sports pitch and spectator stand in Kilkenny

The Board of Directors Kilkenny College have lodged an application with Kilkenny County Council seeking permission for the construction of a full-size all-weather rugby astro pitch and training area.

Also proposed is floodlighting, perimeter fencing and a spectator stand with all associated sites works.

At present, the application is awaiting validation from the planning authority.

Once validated, a decision will be due by May 5, 2026.

At present, four rugby pitches accommodate over a dozen teams of boys and girls playing the game at the school.

Teams take part in the premier sections of the Leinster Senior and Junior Cup and League Competitions enjoying considerable success.
