A 14th minute goal from Niall Brennan put Kilkenny firmly on the road to victory over Westmeath in the Leinster minor hurling championship in Mullingar today.
The Lisdowney lad struck in the 14th minute to help fire the visitors into a lead of 1-4 to 0-2. Kilkenny drove on strongly and at the interval they led by 1-13 to 0-3.
The hopelessly out-classed home side added just one point during the second half.
Kilkenny eventually won by 3-22 to 0-4, and they will be in action at home next weekend.
