Kilkenny greyhounds: Triangle Rinty produced terrific finish

With only one night’s racing in Kilkenny last week, there were 10 races on Friday night’s card.
The most eagerly awaited race of the night was the Track Supporters Club a3 525 final.
The well drawn Artistic Guy was sent off as favourite, but it looked a particularly open final. Pookies Pronto started best from trap 2 and got the bend in front of Artistic Guy.
The leader moved half a length clear into the second as Ballydaniel Sky challenged on the outer. Into the third bend Pookies Pronto was still in front but the big finishers were closing in behind.
Artistic Guy challenged into the last but found the door shut and he took a tumble.
As Artistic Guy fell in front of Triangle Rinty, the strong running Rinty was somehow completely unaffected and he set his sights on Pookies Pronto.
Dug deep
Pookies Pronto dug deep but Nicky Nolan’s Triangle Rinty (Ballymac Vic-Triangle) had too much finishing power and he got up to deny the game Pronto by a half a length in 29.69.
There were good wins also for Kildrenagh Bully and Optimistic Misty also.
The first race began with Kilfenane Lass to the fore early on. However, it was Foulkscourt Eye who got the bend on the outer.
The new leader moved two lengths clear into the second before storming five lengths clear of Milky Bar into the third.
Rathmoyle Susy ran on up the home straight but Foulkscourt Eye was home and hosed by four and a half lengths in 29.91.
Goldmine Scarlet started fast in the next contest and led all the way to land the spoils.
The pace setter showed nice early pace and went on to build a four length lead out of the second bend. Henrys Best ran the back stretch strongly to go second but remained three lengths adrift of Goldmine Scarlet.
Henrys Best tried gamely to reel in Goldmine Scarlet but had to settle for second spot as Goldmine Scarlet landed the spoils by three lengths in 30.18.
Quick into stride
Knocknadoguelady was quickly into stride in the third race and led to the first bend although Pops Folly was in close attendance.
There was half a length between the pair at the second bend but by the third they were locked together. In an entertaining tussle, Pops Folly got the better of Knocknadoguelady by a half a length in 30.07.
In the fourth race, Foulkscourt Mags cut out most of the running, but a three length lead down into the third bend was not enough of a cushion.
Scotchrath Ali closed up on the long time leader up the home straight and looked set to win but Usain Colt swooped by to claim victory by a half a length in 30.14.
Autumn Desire led his rivals a merry dance from trap to line to land the fifth race.
The winner quickly established a three length lead, a lead that he increased to five length down into the third despite the best efforts of Side By Side and Acres Hill.
Ran on strongly
Side By Side ran on strongly to get within a length of Autumn Desire, but the line came too soon. Autumn Desire stopped the clock in 29.80.
The sixth race was level early on and into the first bend.
Ballygur Henry stayed wide at the bend and took over up front. The leader held a two length lead over Foulkscourt Kid at the second bend before storming down to the third to extend his advantage to three lengths.
Ballygur Henry never let up and crossed the line a cosy three and a half length winner in 30.05.
The eighth race was won in fine style by the Thomas Buggy trained Optimistic Misty.
The winner led up from trap 5 and was never troubled from there.
In truth the race was decided between the opening two bends as Optimistic Misty slipped six lengths clear of the bunch.
Howsyerdaymissus eventually came out of the back to chase Optimistic Misty home, but the winner was always comfortable. The winning distance was four and a half lengths in 29.32.
The fastest time of the night was recorded by the improving Kildrenagh Bully.
The winner flew to the bend and took control of the race. Arcturus Legacy tried to make a race of it but Kildrenagh Bully continued to lead the way.
Never threatened
Rocky Legend ran on well to claim second spot, but he never threatened to catch his litter comrade as Kildrenagh Bully ran out a four and a half length winner in 29.34.
Sawdust Club had to settle for second place for the third race in a row as Tentothedozen continued his impressive form for trainer Stuart Kavanagh in the tenth contest.
Sawdust Club was in front early on but it was a short lived lead as Tentothedozen took over going down the far side.
Sawdust Club did not have the finishing kick to trouble Tentothedozen late on and Tentothedozen won by two and a half lengths in 29.34.
