Kilkenny GAA clubs may have surrendered a huge chunk from the season to inter-county games, but the County Board has confirmed a schedule that will see the three main adult county finals played by the first week of November.
When the senior, intermediate and junior hurling league/championships resume on the weekend of August 11/12 it will be steady as she goes all the way after that.
The county finals have been confirmed for the weekends of October 28 (senior), November 4 (intermediate) and October 21 (junior).
From now on games in the three divisions will be played in blocks of two matches on consecutive weekends.
And where possible the starting times of games will be staggered to give fans a chance to attend numerous ties.
Senior - Round 1, Round 2 was played as the opening series of matches (weekend August 12); Round 3 (w’end August 19); Round 4 (w’end September 2); Round 5 (w’end September 9); first round knock-out (w’end September 23); quarter-finals (w’end September 30); semi-finals (w’end October 14).
Intermediate - Round 1 (w’end August 12); Round 3 (w’end August 26); Round 4 (w’end September 2); Round 5 (w’end September 16); first round knock-out (w’end September 23); quarter-finals (w’end October 7); semi-finals (w’end October 21).
Junior - Round 3 (August w’end August 12); Round 4 (w’end 19); Round 5 (w’end September 2); first round knock-out (w’end September 9); quarter-finals (w’end September 23); semi-finals (w'end October 7).
First round under-21 games will be played on the weekend of October 28.
