The 40th annual Festival of Golf continues at Castlecomer golf club today (Wednesday) with the Seniors Day, 18 hole singles Stableford; Thursday, ladies and gents 9 holee singles; Friday and Saturday, 18 hole four person Classic; Sunday, ladies 18 hole Stableford and men’s 18 hole Stroke; Monday, three person Champagne Scramble.
The presentation of prizes and Social Night will be on Sunday, August 5 (9pm).
The Festival attracts growing numbers each year. The €50 Open Week Pass entitles golfers entry to all competitions, plus the attractive 2’s Club. Rowes Hardware are again sponsoring the first hole in one at any hole.

LOTTO: There was no winner of the Lotto jackpot of €4,000. The numbers drawn were 6, 10, 18 and 21. Next week’s jackpot is worth €4,200.
LADIES: The ladies visited Tramore golf club last week, and enjoyed a great game.
Emma Walsh scored a superb 44 points to win the competition. Honoria Fogarty was second with 42 points.
GRAND FINAL: The area final of the Coronation foursomes in Delgany on July 23 produced winners in Bessie Brophy and Maria Downey from Castlecomer.
They qualified for the Grand Final in St. Andrew's, Scotland on September 24.

Gowran Park are hosting an 18 hole singles competition over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The competition runs from Saturday to Monday, August 6. It is open to women and men.

The Pink Day presentation will be held today (Wednesday). Miriam Hand, Marketing Executive BCRI and Mary McKenna are coming to New Ross at 1.30pm for the presentation of the Pink Day cheque of €4,290.
The presentation for Mannion’s, Joyces and the 9 hole competitions will be held on today (Wednesday) at 8.30pm.
DIARY: Next Tuesday's fourball has an anonymous sponsor; next Wednesday’s competition is the President (Harry Rheinhardt) prize to the ladies. It is an 18 hole stroke (medal).
This weekend the President's prize will be played. It is an 18 hole qualifier on Friday and Saturday with the usual play-off on Sunday. Prize presentation on Sunday night.
TEAMS: The great run in the Barton Cup came to an end when beaten 4/1 by Baltinglass. The club enjoyed a great run and won five matches.
The South Leinster side were beaten 5/2 by Wicklow in the last eight. With four away matches it was always going to be a struggle to get a result.
The two ladies teams in the Boyne and Revive Active are through to the semi-finals. These sides are managed by Anne Healy and Eileen Cullinan.
The Revive Active team are up against East Cork on Thursday (3.30pm). There will be three matches away and two at home. The team is managed by Eileen Cullinan.
