The Champions Cup competition was played in Mountain View golf club at the weekend.
Patrick Khan, playing off 10, won the event with a great score of 41 points. He had stiff competition from Michael Dempsey (11) 39 points and Simon Williams (12) 37 points.
LADY PRESIDENT: Lady President Mary Cottrell held her prize giving day last Wednesday.
The competition, an 18 hole single stableford, was played in ideal conditions and glorious sunshine.
The winner was Jos Holding with 34 points. Second was Mary Holden on 31 points with Kathleen Lanigan third with 30 points.
CHARITY: The ladies club are hosting an Open charity event in memory of the late Ann Murphy.
It will be held on Sunday with a shotgun start at 11am. The competition format will be a three person Scramble (at least one Lady per team).

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Stroke Unit, St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

The inaugural Savour Gowran Golf Festival will be held at Gowran Park over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

There was a fantastic turnout for the Autumn open three-person classic at Callan GC.
Thanks to the hard work of the organising committee the event went off smoothly, with many golfers from surrounding clubs supporting the venture.

Entries are now being taken for the Castlecomer GC Winter Team League.
Golfers are asked to put their name on the sheet and the €15 entry fee in an envelope, marked Winter League. Entry fee must be put in the men’s competition fee box on or before Wednesday, November 14.
SENIORS: There was a big entry for the Pat Byrne Memorial Trophy. The seniors competition was a 16-hole stableford singles and Golfer of the Year event.
While it was sunny and very mild, a stiff south easterly wind proved challenging. Scoring was nevertheless good and with only a couple of shots separating those on top. Michael Furlong had the strongest finish and proved a worthy winner on 32 points.
GREENS: Golfers are reminded to repair plug marks on the greens.
LOTTO: There was no winner of the golf club lotto jackpot. Numbers drawn were 2, 8, 26 and 28. The jackpot is now €6,400.
FUNDRAISER: The Club is holding a textile recycling collection on Tuesday, October 30 to raise funds for the Club and the local SOS. Recycle bags can be collected from the golf club office, but any plastic sack is acceptable. Bags can be dropped at the clubhouse between 10am and 5pm any day prior to October 30.

Heavy rain on Thursday morning last forced the cancellation of the weekly outing for the seniors at New Ross GC.
The seniors have their final away outing of the season to Faithlegg GC on Tuesday. Names of those wishing to travel and the green fees of €20, which includes a sub towards the provision of prizes on the day, will be taken up at this week’s event tomorrow (Thursday), when tee times will also be announced - all players are asked to hold on for that in order to finalise travel arrangements.

BEREAVED: Sympathy went to Mick Martin, who has been bereaved by the death of his wife and to Tom O’Shea whose brother, Johnny, from Ardclone and Iverk Produce, was laid to rest in his native Piltown last Thursday.
