Kilkenny CBS get season back on track

League champions, Kilkenny CBS needed to perform if they were to save their season, and they did when beating Borris vocational school in this Leinster post primary schools senior hurling championship, Round 2 game at Fenagh today.

The CBS, who were beaten in their first championship outing, let rip from the start when backed by the wind. Two early points from frees by top marksman, Jake O'Dwyer were followed by a third minute goal from Niall Higgins, who got to the end of a cross from the right by Liam Moore.

Borris were under serious pressure, and the winners maintained it. A second goal followed in the fifth minute when O'Dwyer applied an expert finish after Oisin Morrissey beat his man to create the opening.

With O'Dwyer shooting points from all areas, Borris conceded 2-10 before they opened their account with a minor from free taker, Paddy Heffernan in the 24th minute.

At half-time the winners led by 2-14 to 0-2. O'Dwyer had helped himself to 1-9.
