Met Éireann have issued a STATUS ORANGE rain and wind weather warning for Kilkenny and surrounding areas.
Late this evening and tonight, Storm Betty will bring south to southwest gales with severe gusts of up to 130 km/hr.
Expect spells of heavy rain with thundery downpours combined with very strong winds.
Potential impacts include structural damage, falling trees, travel disruption, power outages and localised flooding.
The level orange weather warning is valid until Saturday at 3am.
Other affected areas include Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.
