Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory for a "deepening depression" heading towards Ireland that could cause flooding and bring down trees.

In an advisory issued for the whole country, forecasters at Met Éireann said: "There is potential for a spell of wet and very windy weather over Ireland on Sunday night and for a time on Monday as a deepening depression tracks over the country."

They listed possible impacts as "localised flooding, poor road conditions and fallen trees or branches."

Met Éireann continues to monitor the situation and said "further updates to this advisory will follow on Sunday, November 12."

The advisory in its current form is valid from 11pm on Sunday until 1pm on Monday.

Meanwhile, Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather posted weather model graphics and pointed to the "interesting little feature on some weather models for Sunday night."

He said the models bring them them "a risk of some strong winds."

"However, some models don’t develop it all so will be interesting to see how this develops over next 36 hours weather models updates," he added.

You can track the winds below on the Windy.com website:

Met Éireann's general forecast for Sunday predicts "outbreaks of rain will spread to all areas.

"However, clearer and drier weather with just a few showers will develop in Munster during the morning, before spreading across the rest of the country in the afternoon and evening.

"Quite breezy with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, veering southwesterly and easing later. Highest temperatures of 7 degrees in the north to 13 degrees in the south."
