Kilkenny Gardaí are keeping community spirits up during cold snap

Gardaí in Kilkenny have been doing their bit for the community during the recent cold snap by helping out those who are most vulnerable across the city.

From checking in on those who need a bit of extra help to bringing them essential groceries, the Gardaí are working tirelessly to make sure everybody across Kilkenny are safe, warm and have everything they need.

In recent posts on Facebook, Gardaí shared heartwarming pictures of them with some Kilkenny citizens, and letting communities know that they are here to help.

In one post, Garda Aisling Morrissey poses with a lady named Phyllis, while holding a litre of milk with the caption,

"Garda Aisling Morrissey from Unit A met with Phyllis today who'd run short of a couple of things. Phyllis is well and truly part of the Garda family with both her late husband and brother in our job. Lovely to meet new friends."

In another post, Garda Doyle can be seen dropping a few essential items to an elderly lady in Kilkenny who couldn't leave her house, along with the caption,

"Kilkenny Community Engagement Unit spent the morning calling into some of those in the community that she got to know during the pandemic to make sure they're all keeping alright while we're experiencing this icy weather.

"One elderly lady was grateful that Garda Doyle could drop in some bits to do her for the rest of the week as she was afraid the footpaths would be too dangerous.

"We got one of the last sliced pans which are valued at around €50,000 (slightly exaggerated)."
