ALERT: Kilkenny County Council make public safety plea as temperature warnings continue

Kilkenny County Council are advising pedestrians to take 'extra care' during this cold snap, admitting local footpaths may continue to be 'extremely slippery' over the next few days.

A new status orange low temperature-ice warning has been issued for Kilkenny, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, Roscommon and Tipperary.

Met Eireann warn that it will be extremely cold with widespread severe frost and ice, along with lying snow in some areas. Patches of freezing fog also.

Meanwhile, the local authority have established a 'Severe Weather Emergency Helpline' to receive, handle and manage calls from the public during this severe weather event. - CONTACT DETAILS HERE
