Kilkenny hits 2026 temperature record but how long will the sun last?

Wednesday was Kilkenny's warmest day of the year so far with a maximum temperature of 15.1 degrees Celsius, according to Kilkenny Weather online and brace yourselves, even higher temperatures are expected...

"High pressure in control now, which means dry weather with lot of sunshine for rest of the week," the local meteorologist promised.

However, it's bad news for any local holiday goers heading to Spain.

"Bad news though for the Canary Islands with Storm Therese expected to bring up to 500mm to upland Tenerife."

Meanwhile, today (Thursday) could be the "warmest day of the year so far" according to the man from Weather, who also revealed there will be a few "fine days" to follow.

In a post on social media, he revealed that temperatures could reach as high as 17 degrees. 

He added that there will be "good sunshine" and a few "fine days" before the weekend too. 

Met Éireann is forecasting the same, with temperatures as high as 15 degrees expected on Friday.

Carlow Weather warned not to "put away the big coats" just yet though, as a "blast of colder air" is expected next week.
