Cois Nore, Kilkenny’s Community Cancer Support Centre, will hold their annual 5K fundraiser on February 6 to mark the new St Brigid’s Day Bank Holiday.
This will be Cois Nore’s second annual 5K event, and the venue is Kilkenny Castle Park.
“Last year’s 5K for Cois Nore was a great success and we are looking forward to an even bigger success this year," Bill Cuddihy, Cois Nore Chairperson said.
"We are asking people to do 5K for St Brigid’s Day and raise much needed funds for Cois Nore. We are especially excited about the new 1K event for primary school children, making it a great day out for all the family.
"We really appreciate the wonderful support we have received. Kilkenny City Harriers have continued their partnership with us this year to help deliver the event. Our business sponsor is Tirlán and we are delighted to be working with them. Our media sponsor is KCLR who have been an invaluable support in getting our message out. And, we are grateful to the OPW for allowing us to use Kilkenny Castle Park.”
Sheila Murphy, Fundraising Coordinator with Cois Nore advises that the event is open to all ages and abilities to run or walk the course in Kilkenny Castle Park.
"We have family fun activities planned for the morning so there will be lots going on around the start line close to the Bennettsbridge Road/ Nuncio Road entrance to the Castle Park," she said.
"The registration fee for adults is €25 and €15 for under-16s. The 5K starts at 11am. Entry for the 1K is limited to primary school children with a registration fee of €10 with a start time of 10.30am."
Register at coisnore.ie/5k and if you are one of the first 200 entrants you will receive a free Cartoon Saloon designed t-shirt.
Cois Nore depends on fundraising to ensure that their services can continue to be provided free of charge to the people of Kilkenny. The Cois Nore mission is to provide free confidential support and both professional and voluntary services to people of all ages affected by cancer and their families to enable them to live well with their diagnosis.
