Glenveagh Staff to go head-to-head in 'takeover' of Jack and Jill boutique In Kilkenny

KILKENNY

The White family

Glenveagh staff will takeover Jack and Jill charity shop in Kilkenny tomorrow (Friday), when three teams will go head-to-head in competition with each other to raise much-needed funds to support local Jack and Jill families in their communities.

There are currently 11 families across Kilkenny, under the care of the Jack and Jill nursing team.

The Apprentice-style takeover will see the teams competing and deploying their best and most innovative sales techniques to achieve the highest sales on the day, all in aid of Glenveagh’s charity partner.

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, which funds and delivers in-home nursing care, respite support and end-of-life care for children from birth to six years of age who have highly complex and life-limiting medical conditions. There are currently over 400 children under the care of Jack and Jill right across the country and the charity’s mission is to empower parents to care for their child at home, because there is no care like home care for a Jack and Jill child.

From pre-loved designer bags to signed jerseys and collectables up for grabs; a visit to the Jack and Jill charity boutique in Kilkenny is a must for any savvy shoppers at any stage, and particularly on June 16. With the Glenveagh teams currently busy finalising their game-plan ahead of the big day, their focus is now on securing coveted designer goods and pre-loved items that will be a hit with shoppers, raffle prizes to generate extra funds and creating additional buzz around the event.

“The Glenveagh team are so proud to be participating in this year’s Jack and Jill charity shop takeovers as part of our Building Lasting Communities initiative, with over 20 staff taking part across the three charity boutiques," said Annette McGarry, Community Engagement Manager at Glenveagh.

"Our volunteers are passionate about supporting their local communities and are working hard to make this fantastic fundraiser a huge success. The competition is really heating up amongst the Glenveagh teams, as they go head-to-head to raise the most funds for Jack and Jill, and of course bragging rights for the winners.”

Carmel Doyle, CEO of Jack and Jill said: “With just 25% of our funding coming from the HSE, we rely hugely on the generous support of the public and our fabulous charity partners for donations and innovative fundraising initiatives to keep our vital service going, which is a lifeline for so many families.

"There are currently over 400 children in our care across the country including 11 families in Kilkenny and while the demand for our service continues to increase, this wonderful partnership with our friends in Glenveagh helps in driving our ‘Support Local, Donate Local, Shop Local’ initiative. All funds raised locally, go directly to help support local families in the community. Like Glenveagh, we’re all about community at Jack and Jill, and we’re so incredibly proud, and thankful, for their continuous support, enthusiasm, and their genuine ambition to help make a difference.”.

The Glenveagh Staff Takeover of Jack and Jill Charity Boutiques will take place on Friday, June 16 from 10am-5.30pm at Jack and Jill Kilkenny, Friary Street Gardens, Kilkenny, R95 DC99.

Shoppers are advised to keep an eye on Glenveagh and Jack and Jill social channels for further updates.
