The Breath
Following a hugely successful inaugural year, Keep Her Lit Folk and Traditional Music Festival returns to the stunning surrounds of Inistioge in Kilkenny from Friday to Sunday, August 18-20.
A stellar lineup of trad and folk musicians has been announced including headline concerts with folk songstress Lisa Hannigan and Alt-folk duo Armagh singer/flautist Ríoghnach Connolly and guitarist Stuart McCallum, the Breath; Kilkenny folk trio Sola, West-Cork-based Les SalamandAs and more live music in various venues across the weekend.
The three-day festival centres around traditional music sessions, intimate concerts, nature walks, music workshops and a local food and craft market.
This year will see the addition of a heritage walk of Inistioge, storytelling with Seanchaí Jim Maher, set dance workshops and the inaugural Keep Her Lit Céilí hosted by Louise O’ Connor of Lasta Dance.
Keep Her Lit is dedicated to the memory of local heroes of Irish music and culture musician Dave Donohoe and publican Johnny O’Donnell.
Frankie Lane and very special guests will play a free concert on Sunday afternoon in association with Counter Attack, a campaign to raise awareness for cardiac disease and heart attacks.
Headline concerts will take place in the beautiful St Mary’s Church in the heart of the village on Friday and Saturday. Tickets for Keep Her Lit headline concerts go on sale Friday, July 7 at 10am.
