Festive cheer at the annual carol service at St Mary's Cathedral in Kilkenny

The carol service will take place at St Mary's Cathedral on December 17

A very special festive evening will take place at St Mary’s Cathedral on December 17 (Sunday) at 7.3opm when the annual carol service takes place.

This year there is an outstanding lineup of performers including the St Mary’s Cathedral Choir, The Unity Singers, The Kilkenny Youth Orchestra under the directon of Philip Edmundson and guest soloist, Kilkenny’s Tanya Sewell.

Tanya is a familiar face to Kilkenny audiences and has performed previously at the carol service and also at Castalia Hall and as part of the Kilkenny Arts Festival. The congregation are also encouraged to participate in the festive event.

There is no admission charge. A special collection will take place on the night for charity.

The annual service is now in its 30th year.

Last year €1800 was donated to the Mother of Fair Love to buy musical instruments for the children of the school.
