Youngsters from all over are being invited to take part in the very first Kilkenny Countryside Junior Parkrun.
The inaugural event will take place this Sunday, April 21, at 9.30 am. Junior parkrun is a free weekly 2km run for children aged four to 14 years.
Parents can run / walk with children if they choose. Register online at parkrun.ie/register/. Everyone is welcome, and it is free and easy to take part.
It’s a good way to learn new skills, make new friends and be a volunteer in the local community.
Participants will get a barcode to print or save to their phone, bring it along every week to get your results.
The start-up has been funded by the Kilkenny county council and the KRSP.
The new countryside park opened last December on the site of the closed municipal landfill at Dunmore. It occupies an area of approximately 24 acres and is located just 5km north of Kilkenny City centre.
The park also provides myriad other attractions including two ball walls, a bespoke viewing area, play and exercise equipment relaxing spaces, along with Kilkenny’s first dedicated dog-friendly enclosure.
