Kilkenny weavers contributed 14,000 stars to exhibition

‘Women Peace Weavers’ an exhibition of 88,000 stars, hand woven by 280 women living in 14 counties, in solidarity against the violence being inflicted on women and girls in war zones and by oppressive regimes around the world recently took place in Dublin.

Weavers living in Kilkenny played an important role in the event contributing 14,000 stars! ‘Women Peace Weavers’ was organised by Amber’s One Million Stars project for International Day of Peace 2024 and was held in the EPIC - The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin .

Volunteer star weavers living in Kilkenny contributed 14,000 stars to the exhibition, bringing the total number of stars woven in Kilkenny to 82,000 since the project started in 2019.

Amber’s One Million Stars project is an inclusive, award winning, national community arts project connecting communities across Ireland in solidarity against gender-based violence. The project was brought to Ireland in 2019 by Amber Women’s Refuge and is part of the global One Billion Stars movement founded in Australia in 2012.
