Alice Kyteler is fighting for her survival. She deals with political, religious and family strife. Witch Trial is written and produced by Core Theatre Productions.
It is 700 years ago, since Alice Kyteler became the focus of an investigation initiated by the local clergy, particularly by the Bishop of Ossory, Richard de Ledrede. The accusations against her included heresy and witchcraft, fueled by her unconventional practices, which included the use of potions and her association with a servant named Petronella, who was also implicated in the witchcraft charges.
Kyteler’s story continues to intrigue historians and feminists alike, symbolising the struggles of women in a patriarchal society and the often tragic consequences of that struggle.
