The Fynches will perform in Cleere’s in Kilkenny on November 21 as part of their nationwide tour to mark the release of their self-titled debut album.
The album comes out on October 7 and its first single, Heavy, is available to stream now.
The brainchild of Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (lead vocals and guitar) and Oisín Walsh-Peelo (vocals and keys), The Fynches also comprise Camryn Teehan (drums), Fionn O’Neill (bass) and Julia-Maria (cello).
Brothers Ferdia and Oisín were raised in a musical family in County Wicklow with composer and arranger Oisín honing his skills by touring and recording with bands such as Villagers, Flyte, Hudson Taylor and Bombay Bicycle Club.

Ferdia found fame on the silver screen starring in Sing Street, as well as roles in the Oscar winning film CODA, Pistol, directed by Danny Boyle and Four Letters of Love, starring Pierce Brosnan and Helena Bonham-Carter.
Speaking about the album’s lead single, Heavy, Ferdia said: “This to me is a song about being isolated. I wrote it during a lonely time in a chaotic city without the intention of releasing it, but more as a way to process what was going on at the time.”
“During the recording process with the band we ended up jamming it and clicked immediately so we put it down straight away. This recording is the second time we had ever played the song together which is a reason that it’s one of my favourite tracks on the album. It’s very honest, organic and live.”
