'Deeply moving': Hundreds gather in Kilkenny for a special Good Friday walk

The walk began at St Canice’s Church and proceeded in a spirit of reflection and prayer to the Capuchin Friary Church

More than 300 people took part in this year’s Good Friday Walk, led by Bishop of Ferns Ger Nash and Fr Willie Purcell.

The walk began at St Canice’s Church and proceeded in a spirit of reflection and prayer to the Capuchin Friary Church, where participants gathered for prayer around the Cross. Fr Willie Purcell described the event as 'deeply moving'.

“It was very moving to see so many people walking in silence on Good Friday, and to witness people along High Street pausing with reverence as the procession passed,” he said.

The organisers expressed their sincere thanks to An Garda Síochána — and in particular to Garda Eric O’Sullivan — for their support and assistance with traffic control throughout the event.
