Letters from prison for KAS lecture
The letters of a Kilkenny man who wrote home from prison in the wake of the 1916 Rising will form the centrepiece to the next event to be hosted by Kilkenny Archaeological Society.
"A Kilkenny man's letters from Richmond Barracks, Wakefield Prison and Frongoch - Tom Treacy, Dean St. and the aftermath of the 1916 Rising in Kilkenny" is the title of the upcoming lecture from historian Orla Murphy.
2026 is the 110th anniversary of the Easter Rising. Orla Murphy will look at the aftermath in Kilkenny using letters sent by Tom Treacy to his wife between May and July 1916. These letters have never been made public before.
