Carol services are taking place this week

Still time to cram in some live music of all sorts with venues across Kilkenny offering plenty.

This Wednesday there are Christmas Carols at Kilkenny Methodist Church from 7.30pm followed by the serving of refreshments.

While the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Concert takes place at the Watergate Theatre from 8pm. Participants include the Castlecomer Male Voice Choir, Inistioge Choir & the Graignamanagh Brass Band with Master of Ceremonies Edward Hayden. Tickets cost €10 with proceeds to the Carers Association.

At the same time Kyteler’s Inn hosts an Ed Sheeran Tribute Show led by Daniel East. That’s at the top bar while the main bar hosts Mick Leech.

On Thursday The Soulful Spirit Choir’s Christmas Concert is at St Kieran’s Church in Johnstown from 7.30pm. The group will be joined by Colaiste Mhuire School Choir with a Nativity Narration by St Kieran’s Primary School. Admission is free but donations will be accepted for the local playground fund.

At the same time St Canice’s Parish Church hosts the choirs of the parish to celebrate Christmas in song for those in the city.
The Sofa Sessions at Billy Byrne’s Bar is from 9pm. Their Christmas Songbook features Emilie Conway on vocals, Phil Ware on piano, Dave Fleming on bass & special guests. Whiskers of Lichen lead the fun at Ryan’s Bar from 9.30pm.
Friday’s fun starts with a Christmas Gala Concert at Thomastown Community Centre in aid of Thomastown Helpers & the hall from 7.30pm.

If you like a country twist to your Christmas then the Christmas Country Concert Tour rolls into Springhill Court Hotel for 8pm. Master of Ceremonies Brian Cunningham will steer us through the stars of the night who include Philomena Begley, Dominic Kirwan, Louise Morrissey, Cliona Hagan and band, Barry Kirwan and Stacey Breen.

Heroes of the Irish music scene Hermitage Green play Set Theatre at Langton’s from 8pm.

Acousticats & DJs keep the party going at Kyteler’s Inn, with DJ Eddie B kicking off the craic at Billy Byrne’s Bar.
From 9pm at Cleere’s Bar & Theatre catch Shane Joyce & band who’ll be supported by & joined throughout the night on stage by Tim V Smyth.

At the same time The Troubadours play Left Bank followed by Riff Shop at 11pm.

Saturday sees a Christmas fundraising concert in The Orchard House from 8pm in aid of the Ray of Sunshine Foundation which builds houses in Kenya to rescue boys and girls who have suffered abuse. There will be a raffle & spot prizes on the night.

DJ Bootsy’s got the tunes at Billy Byrne’s Bar while Abbey Folk & DJs entertain at Kyteler’s Inn.
Sunday is Christmas Eve and you can enjoy Davey Cashin & Pete Fagan at Left Bank from 4 to 7pm.

And you’re invited to mark St Stephen’s Day on Tuesday with Showdown at the Home Rule Club.

At Kyteler’s Inn Generation 5 kick off the fun at 6pm followed at 10pm by Acousticats & DJs. Also from 10pm Gerry Guthrie & his bad play the Rhu Glenn in Slieverue. While DJ Eddie B is back at Billy Byrne’s Bar.
