The news was confirmed by The Sunday Times, who place the value of the proposed hotel at €40 million.

Other Press Up properties include the Clarence Hotel, the Dean Hotel, the Dean Hotel (Cork), the Devlin Hotel and the Mayson Hotel.

The proposed hotel site, on lands south of MacDonagh Junction Train Station, is currently used as a 45-space car park.

CIÉ are the owners of the site and had been seeking to develop the site in recent years, previously inviting interested parties to bid in a tender process back in 2019.

Also included in the plans is a sixth floor outdoor swimming pool area, a bar/restaurant with outdoor terrace, a public plaza along the west of the site and a vehicle set down area along the Dublin Road.
