The Kilkenny stuntman who brought television advertising to new heights

The Kilkenny stuntman who brought chocolate advertising to the next level

Do you remember the Cadbury Milk Tray ads from the 70s era?

You know the ones - the ones where a daring and dashing man conducts all sorts of stunts in his never-ending quest to deliver a tray of chocolates to the pretty lady he admires?

In the ads, this daring man completes epic feats such as jumping from a bridge onto a train, being lifted from a sports car and dropped onto a hotel roof and even jumping from a cliff and diving into a lake.

Well guess what? The man doing all those stunts was from Kilkenny, and his name was Martin Grace.

Actor Gary Myers might have been the face of the ads but Martin Grace was doing all the hard yards behind-the-scenes as his stunt double.

As well as being a stunt actor in these ads, he also featured multiple James Bond movies, was Oliver Reed's fencing double, brawled on-screen with Anthony Hopkins and even did stunts with Kirk Douglas.

Unfortunately, Grace passed away in 2010 but his contribution to cinema, television and advertising will last forever more.
