Criminals purporting to be gardaí have targeted a number of homes around the county in recent days, duping people out of their cash.
A garda investigation is underway and the public are being asked to take proper precautions.
Last Wednesday, between 10am and 10.30am, a burglary took place a house in Tullamaine in which the perpetrators purported to be from An Garda Síochána.
The men produced a fake garda badge before taking a sum of cash from the house. A window was forced open to gain access. Gardaí in Callan are appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area on Wednesday morning to contact Callan Garda Station.
A second incident involving a man impersonating a member of An Garda Síochána was reported in Jamestown, Glenmore on the same day. A man wearing a cap and a surgical facemask entered a home where he proceeded to steal a sum of cash. This incident occurred just at 12.30pm.
A similar incident took place in the Jenkinstown area last Friday.
"If you are unsure if a caller to your home is genuine then ask to see their Garda ID which will contain their name and photo and contact your local garda station who will be able to confirm the identity of the caller," a garda spokesperson said.
