Latest figures from government confirm that there are 118 international protection applicants currently being accommodated in Kilkenny.
The figures were provided by Minister for Integration, Roderic O'Gorman, during a recent Dáil debate, following a question from Deputy Peadar Tóibín.
Amongst Kilkenny's neighbouring counties, 573 international protection applicants are being accommodated in Waterford, 534 in Laois, 493 in Tipperary, 233 in Wexford and 45 in Carlow.
National
Nationally, there are currently 81 guest houses, eight hostels and 57 hotels providing emergency accommodation to international protection applicants (IPAs).
Fifteen accommodation centres fall into the "other" category, which includes the use refurbished office buildings.
Nine former college buildings are currently in use, along with two tented accommodation providers, one National Reception Centre, one Transit Hub and three System Built centres.
IPAS also has contractual arrangements with management of 18 apartment complexes.
