Kilkenny man Ian Collins with Irish teammate at the European Tram Championships 2023
Loughboy man Ian Collins has been crowned best tram driver in Europe at the European tram driving championships in Oradea, Romania.
After training as a soldier in Kilkenny’s James Stephens Barracks, Ian went from Kilkenny as a soldier to Melbourne, Australia. He later returned to the Luas in Dublin after moving back to Ireland.
Ian was successful in taking home gold in the tenth annual tram driving championship where he beat all 25 other teams from 19 different countries as part of the Irish team. Ireland came sixth overall in the competition.
