Back in January a committee was formed to mark the upcoming celebration of Fr Willie Dalton’s 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.
After many meetings and dates, times were put in place, the group approached Parish Priest Father Willie with the proposed plans.
The Golden Jubilee will be marked by a Parish celebration on Friday June 23 at 7.30pm.
The newly ordained Bishop of Ossory, Niall Coll, will be in attendance.
A number of parishioners across the parish and schools will take part in the event, representing groups, clubs and organisations.
Father Willie is in Callan Parish over 22 years, overseeing a population of 4,500 people, responsible for Callan, Coolagh, Newtown, as well as the Christian Brothers at Westcourt and the Mercy nuns at the Convent.
He is also administrator for Dunnamaggin parish and helps out neighbouring parishes. All are welcome to attend the celebration on Friday, June 23 at 7.30pm.
