 Operation City Safe lauded a success in Kilkenny

Operation City Safe has been lauded as a success

A Kilkenny garda initiative, Operation City Safe which involves high visibility policing at night time has been lauded as ‘a successful venture’.

Superintendent Aidan Brennan told members of the Joint Policing Committee that the initiative was ‘working very well’ and said that over the St Patrick’s bank holiday weekend there was one minor assault reported.

Councillor Pat Fitzpatrick commended the success of Operation City Safe and congratulated the other stakeholders including Anthony Morrisson, chair of the Kilkenny Vintners Association and Marion Acreman, Manager of MacDonagh Shopping Centre for their efforts in ensuring that the initiative involves both representatives from local vintners and retailers.

Operation City Safe was launched in 2018 and has been hugely successful to date. Every Friday and Saturday night gardaí are strategically positioned across the city operation to ensure positive interaction and to create a feeling of safety. Operation City Safe also operates on Bank Holiday Sundays.
