National Commemoration Day holds immense significance as it allows us to remember and honour the sacrifices made by our fellow countrymen and women throughout history.

Ceremonies took place across the country last weekend to  pay tribute to the brave Irishmen and Irishwomen who lost their lives in past wars or while serving with the United Nations.

Kilkenny's Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick is the President of the Association of Irish Local Government, and in this capacity he represented Kilkenny and local councillors across the country at the national commemoration event in Collins Barracks Cork.
