A host of free events are planned for Ireland’s seventh Charity Trustees Week
A host of free events are planned for Ireland’s seventh Charity Trustees Week from November 13-17 when organisations across the charity sector and the charities regulator come together to thank the over 76,000 volunteers responsible for overseeing the operations of Ireland’s 11,500 registered charities, including almost 235 registered in Kilkenny.
These volunteers, known as charity trustees, include directors, board members and committee members of charities.
Working in partnership Boardmatch Ireland, Carmichael, Charities Institute Ireland, the Charities Regulator, Dóchas, Pobal, Volunteer Ireland and The Wheel have created a calendar of free events to suit trustees from every type of charity. Most events are on-line making them easy to attend no matter where a charity trustee is based.
As well as celebrating the work of charity trustees, the week’s events are designed to provide support and insights to help trustees fulfil their roles and responsibilities. The events are also open to members of the public who want to learn more about the important role of charity trustees in Ireland’s charities, and how they can get involved.
Helen Martin, Chief Executive, Charities Regulator commented: “Charity Trustees’ Week is a well-deserved thank you to charity trustees for the important work they carry out throughout the year in the governance and leadership of registered charities in Kilkenny and across the country. Their role is vital in assuring public trust and confidence in the charity sector, and as the regulator we see their commitment in action daily. I would also encourage people who might be curious or interested in becoming a charity trustee to check out the events on offer across the week and learn more about how they too can get involved by volunteering with Ireland’s charities.”
