Brave Kilkenny swimmers take the plunge for Palestine

Brave swimmers take a dip in the River Nuenna to raise funds for the Gaza appealraise

Hardy souls took to the River Nuenna in Freshford for a festive dip on St Stephen's Day and raised almost €1,000 for aid for Palestine.

"Since very little humanitarian aid is currently getting through to people in Gaza, we are also asking that people support by making a commitment to take some action - email TDs to demand sanctions against Israel, boycott Israeli companies or companies which support the Israeli government's actions, join Ireland Palestine Solidarity campaign protests - whatever you can," said organiser Gráinne Murphy.

"Massive thanks to everyone who came out today in Solidarity with the people of Palestine.
Like I said at the river, we can fall into despair or we can come together in community and action. To date we have raised €920 and taken lots of individual and collective actions to stand against genocide.
"Lets keep talking about it, demanding our politicians take stronger actions, boycotting, demonstrating and elevating Palestinian voices.

All funds from the St Stephen's dip at the Millenium Park in Freshford this year will be donated to the Irish Red Cross for their Gaza Appeal.
