Meet amazing people, explore new ideas and have a fun night at an inspiring workshop and panel discussion for International Women’s Day on March 8.
The theme of this event is based on the question “How are you investing in the women in your life?” and is a call out to all women and men to focus on those who matter most to them. It is intended to raise awareness at an individual and group level as to what investing in someone means, and can range from words of encouragement, offering praise, acknowledging work well done or providing a listening ear.
The workshop and panel discussion will be led by health and safety and communications specialist Margaret Kirby, who says that their aim is to provide a welcoming space, where audience members can hear from others and share their experiences in a fun and relaxed environment. “Everyone is welcome, and we hope to empower people to feel more confident, more resourced and more aware of simple ways to invest in themselves and each other” she explained.
The panel discussion is composed of speakers who value a compassionate and considered approach to life. It includes Maryjane Mulrooney, a professional career coach, Eilís Walkett, youth worker and advocate for empowering young minds, and Dr. Alison Phelan, general practitioner. They will share their stories on what ‘investing’ means to them, where the challenges lie, how to overcome them, and how investing in each other can bring joy and meaning to life
The event is free, and tea, coffee and refreshments will be available to purchase. International Women’s Day is an annual event worldwide to celebrate and raise awareness of the valuable role of females in daily life and society. The event takes place from 7pm to 9pm, in the Kilkenny Book & Coffee Shop on William Street.
