Graignamanagh
A €2.1 million, state of the art health centre is set to be constructed in Graignamanagh.
The HSE has approved the plan to construct a brand new Primary Care Centre to serve the town and hinterland with a swathe of essential medical services and therapies.
Kilkenny member of the HSE Regional Health Forum, Councillor Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere, has confirmed the news to the Kilkenny People and expressed his delight at the ‘really positive news’.
The new centre is planned to be a two-storey facility of approximately 20,000 square metres with accommodation for GP practices and community nursing as well as dental services and other therapies.
Also to be located at the health centre will be occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, psychology and a community intervention team.
A two-acre site which was previously owned by Kilkenny County Council, beside the fire station in Graignamanagh, has been sold for the purpose of this development.
“It has been confirmed to me this week that a Letter of Intent was issued to the successful developer and this matter has now proceeded to the next stage of ‘Agreement for Lease’ (AFL),” Cllr Cleere said.
Currently, the AFL is being prepared and reviewed by relevant legal departments, once the AFL process has been completed an outline of the construction programme and target dates can be confirmed. It is expected that the planning application will be submitted in Quarter 2 of 2024.
“All going well we should have the new primary care centre in Graignamanagh completed and ready for occupancy by the end of 2025,” said Cllr Cleere.
