Plans lodged again for housing development in County Kilkenny

Fresh plans for a new residential housing development of 43 dwellings in Freshford have been submitted to Kilkenny County Council.

The plans come after a separate application for 43 dwellings were refused planning permission from Kilkenny County Council back in December of 2023.

That original application was refused on the grounds that the applicant ‘had not demonstrated that effluent from the proposed development can be adequately treated without the risk to public health’ and ‘failed to demonstrate that the development as proposed would not give rise to a traffic or pedestrian safety hazard’.

This new application seeks to develop six detached two-storey four/five bedroom dwellings, three two-storey detached four-bedroom dwellings, four two storey semi-detached four-bedroom dwellings, 22 two storey semi-detached three bedroom dwellings, as well as other housing types.

Also sought are alterations to the existing site entrance and approach route including a new section of public footpath along Bohercrussia Street as well as all associated site works, landscaping, infrastructure and site enclosures.

A Natura Impact Statement has been submitted with the application and is available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy.

Kilkenny County Council are expected to decide on the new plans by June 13, 2024.
